{Saving Grace}

I am going to my church tonight to record "my story". I am scared to death...We are in the midst of Deliver the Promise, a campaign to get us all involved more in our church and community. The focus is on what Zion has already done in the community and how it can help more. It is not just monetary donations but our talents as well. I love the quote they use, "Not equal money, equal sacrifice". Over the past few months they have been showing recordings of people sharing "their story", Mr. Braselton himself shared what Zion Baptist has meant to him and how it has affected his life. Yes you heard right, Mr. Braselton and yours truly. And my video is going to be shared at the big show, the big church wide brunch to end Deliver the Promise.

I am in awe, how am I that special? Why is my story so good? How did this Presbyterian girl become a Baptist that will share a testimony of her faith? Is it that good a story? I sure hope so.

Here is my story, lets hope it delivers:

I have grown up going to church, baptised when I was 3 months old (on my Granddaddy Hunt's birthday) and went through confirmation in the 8th grade. I went to church camp each summer to Montreat, I had faith. Chad and I had talked about going to church together ever since we started dating, the second time for those keeping track of mine and Chad's history, but we could never agree on a church. To Chad the Presbyterian churches we went to were too conservative, the Methodist ones were too Catholic, yeah, I don't get that one either. To me, the Baptists were too judging, "What do you mean they want me to get baptised, I was baptised. Why isn't that good enough for them? Why do they want everyone to be saved?" You are talking about a good Presbyterian girl, predestination people- no need to be saved, thanks to the almighty that has been taken care of...

Fast forward to 2 years to talking about it. Chad has been working in Jackson county for about 6 months and kept talking about this preacher that he has been working with and how he thinks I would really enjoy him. I was in a bad place. I could feel the emptiness that came from not have a relationship with God. I had the religion, I needed the relationship. I worried all of the time, about work, life, everything. I was unhappy. On the first Sunday we went to Zion Mike's sermon was on worry. It was surrounding the need to let go of your worries, hand them over to God and he will carry them. OK, can he read my mind??? No, it was God showing me I was where I needed to be and it was amazing. We kept going to Zion and each week it was the same thing, a message that was always what I needed to hear. I started praying more, turning to God more and I was changed.

I am not sure when it happened last Fall but I became a different person, I was saved. This girl that always had a bad taste in her mouth for the Baptist, sorry but it is true, was saved?!?! I am a different person, my marriage is different, my outlook is different and my life is different and Zion had a huge part in that.

Chad and I joined Zion in January and I was Baptised on March 16th, Palm Sunday. I guess you could say I am all set now, been blessed twice! I pray that the Lord is with me tonight and I am able to deliver my message and hopefully, change a few lives.

{Happy Belated Earth Day}

It has been a long week, I was in Charlotte Tuesday through Thursday so I missed getting to post about earth day!

We are on a big kick in the Eubanks' house about living greener so I thought I would pass it along. Here are a few things we are doing to reduce our carbon footprint.

  • We have the reusable bags from Publix that I take with me when I go grocery shopping

  • We recycle

  • I use a Nalgen bottle for my H2O. I did read this article the other day and it kind of freaks me out so I might get this little number...

  • I am looking for a CSA. There is also a Farmers Market at the Suwanee Town center starting next weekend so I think I will start going there to get my fruits and veggies.

  • I want to plant a garden and begin composting, I am afraid that Charlotte will eat the veggies while she is in the back yard though. That dog loves her some tomatos and cucumbers!

  • I use green cleaning products in my house

  • I am looking to make my office more "green". My friend Erin and I have started the "Green Team" and are looking to get everyone in the office reusable waterbottles, remove the paper plates and plastic forks (that would be more civilized anyway!) and make sure everyone uses less paper.

I know there is so much more I could be doing, for one thing I drive too much. I would love to be able to work from home even one day a week. Take a look at the Daily Danny link on the right of my blog, he is full of amazing ideas!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you do to help Mother Earth.

{A club we don't belong to}

"You don't understand but you will when you have kids..."
If I hear that one more time I might scream! There is a club in the married couples world and it takes the ultimate commitment to join, kids. Once you join that is all you can talk about, all you can think about and the only think to make conversation about when you are in a social setting. We are not in the club, we will not join this club any time soon...and I don't really care about your child's bathroom habits or how long you had to push, if you tore, etc. If you would like me to have kids, please leave this to yourself- you are freaking me out! We were at a cookout this weekend where we were the only ones without kids. Poor Chad, he knows all about bedtimes, pooping and our friends C sections. I thought the girls were bad, the guys were worst! We get the comment all of the time that we don't understand what they are talking about but we will once we have kids. I think I can comprehend, I do have a cockapoo...I would hate for anything bad to happen to her! I do have 2 very good friends that have had babies in the past year and I like hearing there stories, I love these girls and I want to hear about their births and things that are going on in their new mommy world. I do not want to know this much about people I have known since January, you are correct, I don't understand. I just don't want to be talked down to and have it pointed out, that's all I'm asking!

{Friday Favorites}

Happy Friday! My day has already been off to an interesting start, our alarm didn't go off, there was a wreck on the way to work that shut down 4 lanes on 85- there are only 5 lanes in case you were wondering...and I am dealing with a production issue at work. And it is only 10! In light of this morning my Friday Favorites consist of my favorite verses, all of these verses have made an impact on my life whether it be happy times, trying times or reflecting times. I hope you enjoy...

1. Proverbs 16:9- The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps

2. James 1:19- You must be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to get angry

3. Luke 12:22-23- ...Jesus said, "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life- whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, your body more than clothing

4. Luke 6:26- There's trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests—look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular.

5. Luke 6:27-30, 35-36- To you who are ready for the truth, I say this: Love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer for that person. If someone slaps you in the face, stand there and take it. If someone grabs your shirt, gift wrap your best coat and make a present of it. If someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously. 35-36"I tell you, love your enemies. Help and give without expecting a return. You'll never—I promise—regret it. Live out this God-created identity the way our Father lives toward us, generously and graciously, even when we're at our worst. Our Father is kind; you be kind.

6. Proverbs 17:22- A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength

7. Colossians 4:6- Let your conversations be gracious and seasoned with salt so that you will have the right response for everyone

8. Psalm 14:10- Be still and know that I am God

9. Psalm 139:14- Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous- how well I know it.

10. Joshua 1:9- This is my command- be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Below are the 2 that have made the most impact on me and the two I always turn to:

11. Corinthians 13:4-7- Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins our. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

12. Jeremiah 23:11- "For I know the plans I have for you" says the Lord. "Plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly you will find me"

I love you all and hope you have a blessed weekend.

XOXO

{Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig}

What an exhausting 2 days, I swear I have never been this tired. Well, I never made it to Chicago on Monday, it was a comedy of errors:

  • I left my purse at home and didn't realize it until I was almost to the airport

  • There was traffic at at the airport so I missed my original flight

  • Got put on a new flight a hour later and had to stand in line to check in

  • Was corralled to the "special needs" security line so people with strollers and wheelchairs kept cutting in front of me

  • I finally got through security 20 minutes before my second flight and the train breaks down at terminal A- I had to go to D. I proceed to RUN through the airport, yes I was one of THOSE people...

  • Get to the gate with 3-4 minutes to spare- the plane is delayed and won't be there until 4

  • I stand in line to get rebooked, for the second time that day, How hard is it to get from Atlanta to O'Hare- aren't those the two busiest airports???

  • Missed my connecting flight so now I can fly to Cinninicatti and then leave there at 9:00, no thanks

  • Ask for them to take my bag off this flight so I can go home, wait 3 and a half hours and find out my bag went to Chicago

I got to Chicago at 8:00 yesterday morning and home last night at 10. I did see Jill from The Real Housewives of NYC so that was pretty awesome. What a couple of days!

{Adios}

The Masters are finally over and I have to go out of town! I am heading to Chicago today for work, won't even see the city! Our offices are in Rosemont, right by O'Hare- you can see the city in the far distance on a really clear day...Hope you all have a wonderful Monday. Don't forget about your taxes, tomorrow's the 15th

{Golf Widow}

I am a gold widow today, and he is sitting right next to me on the couch. This weekend every year is one spent in front of the TV. I see the green and yellow logo of the Masters in my dreams. I know every random fact about the leaders because of all of the feel good pieces they do. Although, the Virginia Tech one did leave me misty eyed...I know every random statistic as well, did you know no US Amateur Public Links champion has never won the Masters? I did...I am so glad that the final round is tomorrow, I am sure my DVR is as well...

I will leave you with a cute pictures my mom sent of the newest, furriest family members.

{Heading down the hill to 30}

A month from tomorrow I will be 27. That is 3 years away from 30, that is crazy! I feel much more like a 20 year old than a 30 year old...I will be the age my momma was when she had me, that also is crazy. (Sorry for spilling your age Big Val) I would love to have a mini prepster but our lives just don't accommodate that right now, I work over an hour from my house! I always thought I would have at least 2 kids by the time I was 30, nw I am hopeing for 1. Who knows that my 27th year, or is it my 28th year??, will hold but I am pretty excited for it!

In honour of the upcoming birthday I will make my favorite things be a sort of wish list. Or this will be my wish list for when I get my check from George W., hey I am so willing to do my part to boost the economy:

1. A PSA Stamp- right now these are only $27, that is 40% off! with the code 4mom. My favorites are Wallace, Dashwood and Larrabee, so cute!

2. Kate Spade Bag

3. Bonnano Emma Monogrammed Sandals- I really want these, hint hint Chad, in black with white whip stitch

4. Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals- these are a complete rip off of the Palm Beach classic Bonnano sandals but much cheaper...

5. Medium Land's End Tote in Navy with a Green Monogram

6. Monogrammed Turvis Tumblers- Marc and Cris gave us some of these for Christmas and I love them, I would love tons of them!

7. J Crew Gift Cards

9. Jack and Lulu Recipe Box- you can monogram it!I love the Red Tiles and Blue Club, so cute!

10. Vera Anything!

{Fore!}

We went to the Tuesday practice round of the Masters- it was amazing. I was very fortunate to spend four years working at one the most beautiful golf courses in Georgia but Augusta National blows Great Waters away. It makes Great Waters look like Uncle Remus...Tiger teed off at 7:55 and only played 9 holes so I missed him but I did get to see some amazing players. We had a great time with my parents and my new super preppy outfit was super cute!

{Jenny Here I come}

My Jenny Craig food came today, I offically start tomorrow! I thought I would put a before picture up, I really want to be able to see the changes. This one really shows off my double (or triple) chin and fat...And if I put posts on my blog that will hold me accountable, right?? Chad and Charlotte also had fun with the box the food came in, I thought they were so funny!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

XOXO

{Confession Time}

I have made a couple "drastic" changes in the past few days. Please realize that drastic in my world is all relative...

  • I quit Facebook
  • I quit Myspace
  • I joined Jenny Craig

Facebook and MySpace had become an obsession, I believe I had OCD about them- I HAD to check them whenever a computer was around...strange I know. As for Jenny, it is about time she and I became friends. My sister in law has been hanging out with Jenny since January and looks amazing. I always thought that I would be able to loose weight on my own, that is clearly not the case. Drastic times call for drastic measures. It is expensive but I really hope it is worth it!

My food comes on Wednesday, good thing as I want to eat me a delicious egg salad sandwich at the Masters tomorrow, those things are legends! Ta ta, I've got to go practice my golf clap!

{NKOTB- 4eva...really}

OMG- New Kids are back! This is wonderful news, I loved them. I had a NKOTB sleeping bag, birthday party, trapper keeper (probably), t-shirts, pins, etc. I saw them at Bobby Dodd Stadium and it was AMAZING! I have to say they look pretty good for 20 years later, Jonathan is still my favorite, Danny improved with age, huh girls??

Click here to see them on the Today Show. It just takes me back to Art class in the 4th grade and taking NKOTB talk with Jessica Gaddy...those were the days.

{$100 Dawgs Win- Any takers?}

The G Day game is Saturday! I am so excited, I have been missing tailgating since the Fall. I love a cool and sunny Saturday in Athens in the Fall. There really is nothing better. I am heading to Athens with Momma, Marc, Cris and Ramsey. Sadly, Chad is working this weekend so we will be sporting our red and black without him. Now that David Green is gone I am really struggling with finding a player to cheer for. That was back in my single days when I so lovingly referred to him as my boyfriend, sorry Veronica. It was so fun to know someone on the team, someone that was so admired no less! I am a sucker for quarterbacks but Matthew Stafford doesn't do it for me.

If you are heading to the game give me a call, I am sure we will have some chicken salad and beam to share!

{Friday Not So Favorites}

Okay, I am going to get CrAzY and switch it up a bit. This week is dedicated to things that really irk me.

1. Hearing that Georgia Tech is a better school then UGA. This drives me crazy!! I will admit, if I wanted to be an engineer, I think I just threw up in my mouth, then Tech would be my school of choice. If I wanted to a business, art, journalism, education, etc degree {or all around better school} than UGA is the place to be. I hear it all the time at work, from people who have no clue, and it drives me batty!

2. Traffic. Over an hour in the car, each way, is not a fun way to spend the day.

3. Sandbaggers. All but one of the teams we have played in T2 tennis are WAY better than the 3.0 level they placed themselves at and we are not evenly matched. It is not fun to loose 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0...you get my point. We did will our match for this week though. The guy we were supposed to play got hurt in his match against Jayme and Stacy last week and had to forfeit. Thanks guys, our first win!!!

4. Taxes. This is the first time I have owed taxes and I am not happy about it. They take enough of my money, why should I give them more? Chad thinks they are like the Mob and I tend to agree. Who else tells you that you owe them money and you just are expected to pay, no questions asked. And when you don't it ain't pretty...

5. April Showers. I believe I might have a slight case of SAD (Seasonal Affect Disorder). I have found it so hard to get up in the morning and I am in a pretty crabby mood with all of this nasty weather. Can't it just be sunny and warm???

Happy Friday, sorry to be a Debbie Downer. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, see you in Athens!

{New Family Member}

About a month ago, maybe more, my parents had to put our sweet cat Sally to sleep. This cat was HUGE, about 20 pounds, but was a sweet kitty we have had since I was a junior in high school. That's 10 years for those who are counting...My momma was so upset, it was just heartbreaking. Well...they have adopted again! Introducing Kitty- he doesn't have a name, my parents can't agree on anything! My dad only like Pedro and Rascal, gag...I am all for Jasper, that's my favorite! He is so cute, I can't wait to meet him!! Jasper and sister Maggie
